Sun Screens
We are loath to use normal sunscreen chemicals such as octyl methoxycinnamate in our products as these are controversial and also irritating to those of us with sensitive skin.
We prefer to rely on safe zinc oxide as a physical barrier to both UVA and UVB rays. Micronized zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are currently controversial as there is some evidence they may cross the skin barrier. Our zinc oxide is not micronized, and we are certain our Skinsmart is safe even for babies. We have never had a sensitive skin customer have any reaction to Skinsmart.
It's just a pity it takes so long to make and leads to endless washing up!

Skinsmart
An all natural non-irritating moisturizing lotion designed to give protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays as well as general environmental damage from harsh Australian conditions. Use it as an everyday protective moisturizer or as a sunscreen for prolonged sun exposure. Safe for babies. Not completely waterproof - reapply after swimming. The main active ingredient is zinc oxide 8 per cent - this is not micronized, so it cannot cross the skin barrier and neither does it give a ghosting effect. The green and black tea with the white zinc oxide in Skinsmart give the product a beige colour - it can double as a natural foundation. To date we have never encountered anyone sensitive to this product, including very young children.
As a protective moisturizer -
Apply to clean skin each morning. Can be reapplied as needed.
For prolonged sun exposure -
Apply liberally every 2 hours and after swimming (not waterproof).
