Health Helpers
These skin care products are designed to help your body's natural defense and healing systems, using age old herbal remedies and modern scientific plant knowledge. No preparation should replace medical attention for serious ailments.
Please note that we are not qualified naturopaths. We simply have some experience with, knowledge of, and respect for herbs, essential oils and cosmetic raw materials. Many of these products were designed years ago, and their helpfulness and efficacy has been proven countless times via the feedback we have received over the years from our customers. Over this time, our respect for plant power in supporting the body's own healing processes has deepened.

Achy Breaky Cream
A topical herbal cream designed to ease muscular, arthritic, joint and connective tissue pain and injury, such as tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, bruises, sprains, pulled muscles. Contains lots of arnica, with comfrey and hypericum (St John's Wort) as infused oils and/or herbal extracts, as well as anti-inflammatory essential oils.
Apply frequently and lovingly, at least twice daily.
Achy Breaky Lotion
All the goodies in our popular Achy Breaky cream, but in lotion consistency, in a convenient PET plastic pump pack, easy for travel and ideal for practitioners or for people who need to use lots.
Local Broome chiropractors and physiotherapists use this lotion. The primary active ingredient is arnica. It is not suitable for pregnant women or on broken skin.
Healing Cream
Think of Healing Cream as an all purpose safe first aid cream for most skin problems - a herbal antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and healing cream for topical application to sores, bites, burns, stings, rashes, boils, cracked skin, eczema etc. Many people with eczema have found it useful as a harmless maintenance cream to keep skin moist and eczema at bay, reserving their use of cortisone creams for times when the eczema is really nasty.
It is also a restorative heavy duty hand cream for people who work with their hands (use at night as the cream is heavy, almost like an ointment). For instance, around Broome workers cleaning pearlshell need something effective to heal nicks and scratches and the effects of salt water.
Herbal Skin Calm
A simple, calming and cooling gel (no oil) chock full of soothing herbal extracts for irritated skin, for those times when itchy, irritated skin is driving you insane! Helpful for any inflamed skin, from multiple insect bites, to eczema, prickly heat, psoriasis, chicken pox etc. Use instead of the old calamine lotion.
Midgie Magic
Midgie Magic (formerly Sandfly Salve) was designed many years ago to help newcomers to Broome cope with biting midges and other insects. This cream is to put on after you have been bitten, as subsequent swelling, itching and infection following midge bites is the main problem. The cream helps to soothe, reduce the itch, disinfect and heal up bites with natural anti-inflammatory ingredients. Works also on bee stings and even, so we are told, on Scottish midgies! (However, it doesn't work on centipede bites - resign yourself to four or five hours of pain!)

Pestoff
A completely natural herbal body lotion designed to deter insects. It contains no DEET but has 3 active ingredient types - a local plant extract used traditionally to deter insects, neem oil (a natural insecticide) and insect deterring essential oils. It works perfectly well if used properly - it needs to be applied to all exposed skin and re-applied every 2 - 3 hours.
Do not use on children under 3 years as this lotion contains over 3% essential oils. See the Biting Midges in Broome download for other ideas for littlies.
Skinsmart
An all natural non-irritating moisturizing lotion designed to give protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays as well as general environmental damage from harsh Australian conditions. Use it as an everyday protective moisturizer or as a sunscreen for prolonged sun exposure. Safe for babies. Not completely waterproof - reapply after swimming. The main active ingredient is zinc oxide 8 per cent - this is not micronized, so it cannot cross the skin barrier and neither does it give a ghosting effect. The green and black tea with the white zinc oxide in Skinsmart give the product a beige colour - it can double as a natural foundation. To date we have never encountered anyone sensitive to this product, including very young children.
As a protective moisturizer -
Apply to clean skin each morning. Can be reapplied as needed.
For prolonged sun exposure -
Apply liberally every 2 hours and after swimming (not waterproof).
Hair & Scalp Conditioning Treatment
Long term use of cheap shampoos leads to dry, scaly, itchy scalp and dry lustreless hair. Revitalize the hair & scalp with this treatment which is also helpful for eczema and psoriasis sufferers.
We infused Australian macadamia oil with skin soothing herbs such as calendula, chamomile, chickweed, elderflower, burdock, mallow and yarrow, then added some other lovely oils, lots of Vitamin E, and pure essential oils.
