Health Helpers
These skin care products are designed to help your body's natural defense and healing systems, using age old herbal remedies and modern scientific plant knowledge. No preparation should replace medical attention for serious ailments.
Please note that we are not qualified naturopaths. We simply have some experience with, knowledge of, and respect for herbs, essential oils and cosmetic raw materials. Many of these products were designed years ago, and their helpfulness and efficacy has been proven countless times via the feedback we have received over the years from our customers. Over this time, our respect for plant power in supporting the body's own healing processes has deepened.
Organic Facial Skin Care
At last, we are delighted to release the organic products we have been designing and trialing for almost a year!
The lighter Soothe range is for those with sensitive or combination skin which tends to become unbalanced. This is also the best range for normal skin.

Ubtan Herbal Powder Cleansers
These cleansers have evolved through our interest in both ancient Aryurvedic beauty care and Western herbs and essential oils. Ubtan are carefully blended for the different Aryurvedic skin types from very finely ground organic grains with herbs, flowers, spices and essential oils. When mixed to a paste with appropriate liquids, they resemble very fine scrubs, suitable for daily use. Each cleanser comes packaged in a PET fully recyclable plastic jar with an instruction pamphlet.
There are 3 types - Ubtan Vata (normal to dry skin), Ubtan Pitta (blemished or troubled skin including acne) and Ubtan Kapha (normal to oily or sluggish skin which may have large pores).
Hydrosols & Mists
Both these are lovely toning sprays to use after cleansing and also to freshen up in hot or dry weather. Many people ask what is the difference?
Hydrosols are watery by-products of the steam distillation process used to extract pure essential oils. They are very pure - can actually be ingested safely - and contain some of the essential oil extracted. Our hydrosols are Certified Organic.
Moisturisers
Hidden Valley make 3 different classic moisturising creams which are lovely but inexpensive. These are Avocado Cream (the best for dry skin), Rose Cream (normal to dry) and Almond & Calendula (normal or troubled). We have offered these for many years. They contain lovely carrier oils and essential oils, and use a vegetable derived safe emulsifying wax which we make ourselves from a special recipe, to join the oil and water phases together. The preservative used in these is reliable Phenonip, which does contain paraben preservatives. If you have any concerns about this, either choose one of our other options below, or phone for more information.
For those who really want no synthetic additives whatsoever (that is, in the main, no emulsifiers or preservatives) we offer 4 different Precious Facial Oils in 50ml glass bottles. These are mixtures of beautiful cold pressed base oils with Vitamin E and pure essential oils. We offer Vata (normal to dry skin), matching our Ubtan Vata cleanser, Pitta (blemished/troubled skin) matching our Ubtan Pitta cleanser. Also, we offer Precious Facial Oil for Succulent Women of Wisdom (mature skin) and Rose Hip Regenerative Oil Blend, which is wonderful for cell regeneration to treat scarring or just facial wrinkles.
Precious Facial Oils
Our precious facial oils replace moisturisers for those who want nothing but beautiful pure cold pressed plant oils, essential oils and Vitamin E on their faces. They come in 50 ml glass bottles with dripolators. Because these are waterless products, they do not require preservatives or emulsifiers.
Always apply to damp face after cleansing with an ubtan paste and toning with a hydrosol or mist. In effect, you make an emulsion on your face by adding oil to the water already present, locking in that moisture. You only need a few drops of precious oil, so these last a long time.
Lip Balms
Our luscious lip products come in 15 ml glass pots, so they last a very long time! After having some problems with graininess developing over time in our shea butter lip balms, we have now deleted shea from them all, substituting mango butter and other lovely emollients.
Foot Products
We have developed a range of products for people who work on their feet, or suffer from hot, tired weary feet for whatever reason. Most of us neglect our feet, which are in need of pampering attention.
We have a Chill Foot Soak, ideal for the Foot Spa but equally OK in an ordinary bucket or large bowl. An alternative would be the Footspa Pure Essential Oil Blend - add 5 - 8 drops to a bucket or footspa. Follow this with Walnut Foot Scrub to remove that flakey skin. Add Heel Balm for dry or cracked heels (also contains anti-fungal myrrh for fungal problems) and apply a small amount of Foot & Leg Gel as a cooling final touch.
Baby & Mother Products
We take special care to produce extremely safe products for babies and pregnant or breastfeeding mothers - when in doubt we always take a conservative view, choosing only ingredients which are completely harmless. Ingredients are also organic where possible.
