Soap
All soaps are hand made from pure vegetable oils - WA virgin olive, palm, coconut, macadamia and castor oils. These ingredients produce firm, mild, creamy, moisturizing soaps, with rich lather even in hard water. The different soaps are then crafted with essential oils, extra superfatting oils, herbs, cosmetic grade colours and other ingredients.
As well as making good soap at a physical level, we aim to create soap which cleanses and nourishes the human spirit.
Gift Collections
Hidden Valley offers a stock selection of boxed soaps as well as gift boxes and Eco platters of mixed products such as candles, soaps and skin care products.
In addition, you are welcome to design your own gift collection by choosing products and consulting with staff to select either a large or small box, or a large or small Eco platter (plate) made from the outer casing of the areca palm. Both include wood wool, shrink wrapping and a decoration if needed.
Candles Paraffin
We have been making paraffin candles from scratch for nearly 15 years now. First we made them at home on our back verandah. Then when we moved to our new shed in Blue Haze we built a special candle verandah where candles could be made safely in the fresh air, with water and gas burners at hand. It's where our old mate John hangs out with his paper and his radio.
Currently John makes all our paraffin candles in moulds, actually in a very "high tech" way in plumbing pipes with bungs on one end, wicks threaded through and held in place with plasticene and halved sate sticks! This is one example of the "playful ingenuity" in our motto.
Candles Soy
Our all vegetable soy wax container candles are safe, non-toxic, environmentally sustainable, and have many other advantages. They burn up to 50 per cent longer than paraffin candles, can contain higher levels of essential oils (we use 4 per cent), and spills clean up easily with hot soapy water. We love making them too.
We make 2 types: Soybeams and Tealights.
Essential Oils
Hidden Valley sells high quality pure essential oils in 10ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes in glass bottles with dripolators and tamper evident caps.
We also sell precious pure essential oils in 2.5% dilutions in jojoba oil, which is very light and long lasting. Examples are Roman and German chamomile, Rose damascena (Bulgarian), Neroli and Jasmine. This makes these oils affordable.
Hair Care
Our grandmothers used soap to wash their hair, then a vinegar rinse to restore acidity. Shampoos, containing detergents, were only invented after the second world war. While soap is still a wonderful hair cleanser in soft or rain water areas, unfortunately it is not a good option if the water in your area is hard (full of minerals). That "ring around the bath" (the soap precipitating some of these minerals) gets left in your hair.
So our purpose has been to find the mildest possible shampoos using gentle surfactants which dont strip all the natural oils, and reducing any other harmful chemicals as well. The popular decyl polyglucose, while being a "natural" plant derived surfactant, has the unfortunate effect of cleansing rather too well, stripping the hair and leaving it feeling dry and hard.
